"CHICAGO BASED DJ/PRODUCER CONTINUING THE CULTURE OF HOUSE MUSIC. MIND, BODY, & SOUL."

t

Al "Hot Mix" Holmes, a 30+ year Dj veteran started Djing in 1982. His first introduction into house music happened when he attended the historical Mendel High School. A catholic high school on the south side of Chicago that became legendary for it's bi-level dance parties and was his first exposure to house music. After graduating high school, he attended Columbia School of Broadcasting, where he further fine tuned and expanded his abilities. Learning editing, music programing, and voice overs. After completing his broadcast training he joined Pro DJs, a local mobile DJ company in Chicago where he provide the company mix tapes for the non-mixing Dj’s.

A few years later “Hot Mix” entered into radio broadcasting. He co-hosted “Christian Underground” with Tony Mundaca on WYCA 92.3 FM ( A Crawford Broadcasting station)in Chicago. There he also guest hosted “The Gospel Hour” on the same station. Years later he received his big break. He was asked to provide mini mixes for the Darryl King Show on Rejoice 102.3 FM also part of Crawford Broadcasting in Chicago. This break led to his own weekend mix show which he programmed and produced called “The Friday Night Praise Mix. He also started doing internet radio, spinning Gopsel House music on mixing4u.com in the U.K. and gospelhousemusic.com in the U.S.

Later he was invited to guest DJ on Club 710 on Worldviberadio.net which blossomed into a DJ residency. An opportunity for his own show was presented and World Vibe Jams was born. A year later “Hot Mix” was asked to also guest DJ on the D’Vine 1 gospel house show in the U.S. A 5 hour show on Sunday mornings. This also lead to a DJ residency on the same show. In 2008, Sonya Blakey, the program director for Rejoice 102.3 FM. Moved to Inspiration 1390 AM (An Iheart radio & Clear Channel station) also in Chicago asked if Al "Hot Mix" Holmes would go with her. Inspiration 1390 won a Stellar Award as the #1 gospel station and is currently the 2nd largest 24 hour gospel station in the nation. After a one year hiatus, "The Jubilee at 3" was created. A 25 minute mix that can be heard everyday at 3pm c.s.t. Monday thru Friday for the hottest gospel mixes ever.

After several long years, Clear Channel decided to take a different direction and cancelled the show. Little did he know that this turn of events will lead him to a new opportunity at Ray Neal Media. The D Curtis Randle Show invited him to join The Praise Posse, a Gospel Dj collective which features mixes from the group every sunday at 11am. Mr. Randle was always a huge fan of Hot Mix Holmes during his long run on AM 1390, and was excited to hear that he was now available.  Listen at https://therandleshow.com  Shortly after that opportunity, another door was opened at Gospel House Radio. While performing at an event in the south loop in Chicago. He was approached by Dr. Dorrelle which lead to a very long and productive conversation. Out of that conversation a bond was created and over time he would be asked to be the lead music minister at Gospel House Radio.
